New video from B. Braun OEM Division stresses criticality of function when selecting valves for medical devices

Short video explains how valve selection may change based on importance of the component for the device

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A new video from B. Braun’s OEM Division (bbraunoem.com), advocates a full analysis of the valve’s criticality of function as an essential step in selecting an ideal valve for medical devices. The video appears on the new resource center on B. Braun’s website.

Presented by Joel Bartholomew, Innovation Manager at B. Braun, the video instructs customers to conduct a risk assessment on the final device design to evaluate the valve’s criticality to the performance of the entire device. The assessment may identify design issues, manufacturing methods and test protocols that are needed to ensure proper valve selection. The demands need to be identified and addressed early in the design process.

The video also stresses that valve criticality should be openly communicated with the supplier to ensure a full understanding of requirements so the valve will function as required.
The video is part of B. Braun’s OEM Division’s new resource center, which contains resources to help engineers and product managers improve design and production.
B. Braun’s OEM Division provides one of the industry’s most extensive selection of valves for medical devices.
